Literature Text

You saw me standing there,
Cold, broken, and alone
You somehow knew my flaws
Before I did myself.

You aimed your rifles at me
Your talons poised to strike;
I came out alive but scarred
Heaven only knows how.

So now you've launched a surprise attack
Thinking I'd be alone
You dared not stare me down with your hateful glare
As cowards, you couldn't meet my eyes.

You were ready to strike me down
And leave my body all ablaze
You didn't realize
This solitary soilder was not standing alone.

You didn't see their faces.
You didn't hear their voices.
You didn't know they were there
Until we conquered you from within.
You counted on me fighting alone
As I always used to do.

But you didn't notice
Our extensive arsenal
You underestimated our strength and our power.
You thought you would strike me down
With a single blow.

You didn't count on my having a verifiable army behind me.
I wrote this about two weeks ago. My friends who know me in person know what was going on then.

I don't usually dedicate my poems. If they're about you, I make sure you know it, and that's that. But this one is special. This one is dedicated to all my friends who have stood by me, especially these last few weeks.

Forever yours,

I found nothing wrong with this poem, very expressive.
