Those words chilled them both to the bone.

"Not yet!" she exclaimed, throwing her arms around her love, like a child not ready to leave.

"Shh, shh." he consoled her, stroking her hair and attempting to detach her arms from around his chest. Holding her wrists, he whispered, "Don't fight. Just go home."

"Love, I'm doing this for you." His eyes begged, Please don't make this harder.

His captor jerked her shoulder away. "Leave. Now."

They spent a good fifteen minutes in each others' arms. This did not seem like time wasted--sitting on the bed, holding each other, not talking--there was nothing to say.

Finally, he pulled back, cupping her face in his hand. "I have an idea." he said quietly, his voice measured. "You do?" she asked. "I have an idea!!" he repeated, standing up and pacing. "What is it?" she asked, laughing at his antics.

"He must be back; you're smiling like an idiot."

"Really? I hadn't even realized."

"Of course not. You're too busy being his love toy."

I burst out laughing. Inside my head, his laughter rang out, echoing around his metallic home. "God, Adrian. You know it's not like that."

"Sure, sure."

I rolled my eyes at him, then rushed down the hall.

"The cafeteria's this way!" Adrian called after me.

"I know," I replied. "I'm going to meet Matt by the tech room. See you later!"

"Ok" he called, waving.

I sprinted, somehow more alive then I'd felt in ages.
